Hyundai has four trims for the KONA. The KONA N Line and Limited trims are available now, and we expect the 2024 SE and SEL models to roll in any day. If you’re looking for sport-inspired style and performance, the N Line has it all. KONA N Line models have trim-exclusive exterior accents and interior equipment complimenting its race-inspired style. You can purchase the KONA N Line at a starting MSRP of $30,650.
The Limited trim represents the top-tier KONA model, starting at only $31,650. You can expect a premium fit and finish generally reserved for luxury brands with the KONA Limited. Hyundai includes all the driver-assist systems you crave, plus the infotainment technology to keep you connected no matter where your next adventure leads.
With the SE and SEL trims set to release in the fall of 2023, we know the SE model will start at around $24,000. We anticipate it’ll come with many desirable features based on the previous model year, so you can expect the same touch-screen infotainment system and driver-assist tech. Hyundai offers an efficient, naturally aspirated four-cylinder with the SE and SEL models for drivers looking to stay on budget.
The SEL trim adds some desirable features, and you can access additional option packages. Pricing for the SEL has yet to be released, but a review of the 2023 model tells us it should cost around $25,000 before any optional equipment.
This small SUV’s performance belies its size. KONA SE and SEL trims have a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. As a result, this powertrain makes 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque.
N Line and Limited trims use a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with gasoline direct-injection technology, paired to the same eight-speed automatic as the SE and SEL. This powertrain produces an impressive 190 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. We expect Hyundai to make this engine an option on the SE and SEL trims. The turbo-four tops out at 31 mpg, and the 2.0-liter engine rates at 35 mpg.
Every Hyundai KONA comes standard with a capable front-wheel-drive platform. However, you can add Hyundai’s HTRAC AWD for $1,500 and get more confident driving dynamics when the surfaces get soft or slick.
So much of modern vehicle safety centers on driver-assist technologies. Hyundai KONA comes with Hyundai SmartSense, which uses various radar and optical sensors to monitor your KONA’s surroundings. Some systems provide alerts and can intervene with emergency brake support or steering input to help mitigate or avoid a collision.
This 2024 Hyundai KONA model represents the first year of KONA’s second generation. Hyundai went with a larger footprint and rugged exterior styling cues. N Line models feature trim-exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels. LED projector headlights, daytime running lights, and taillights come standard on every model.
The N Line features Gloss Black side mirrors, while the Limited’s mirrors match the body color. Both models integrate turn signal indicators. In addition, the N Line trim has trim-exclusive front and rear fascias, badging, and a twin-tipped exhaust.
Slipping inside the KONA Limited, you’ll find H-Tex upholstery. This synthetic material has the beauty of leather with increased durability. N Line models have N Line Black Alcantara combination leather seats. Both models have a leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated front seats, but the Limited front seats ventilate for additional comfort. N Line models sport the N Line logo on the steering wheel.
Hyundai has four exterior color options for the KONA N Line with three two-tone pallets. You can choose Abyss Black Pearl, Ultimate Red Metallic, Atlas White, Ecotronic Gray Pearl, or Denim Blue Pearl for your single-tone colors. Atlas White, Ecotronic Gray Pearl, and Ultimate Red Metallic colors can be matched with a black roof.
The Limited trim offers nine exterior colors. In addition to the N Line colors, you have Mirage Green, Soultronic Orange Pearl, Neoteric Yellow, and Cyber Gray Metallic options.
Hyundai equipped the KONA with impressive technology features. N Line and Limited trims have a 12.3-inch touch screen that powers all your infotainment. Built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and Dynamic Voice Recognition systems provide the necessary connectivity to your busy life.
Other standard tech includes dual USB ports in the front and back, a wireless charging pad, a proximity key entry system, push-button start, Hyundai’s Digital Key 2 Touch, and a wireless hotspot that connects multiple devices.
You also have a complimentary subscription to Hyundai’s Bluelink+ advanced package. Bluelink+ allows you to operate your vehicle using its smartphone app remotely. You can lock or unlock your KONA, start the engine, set your climate control, and even activate your heated or ventilated seats. In addition, you can use the app to find your KONA in those oversized parking lots.
