February 10th, 2022 by

The Hyundai Kona is back for another model year, offering a restyled exterior, added power on the turbocharged engine, and an all-new sport-themed N Line. The 2022 Kona is part of the first Kona generation introduced in 2018. Nimble handling makes this subcompact SUV fun to drive. You can opt for the turbocharged engine to provide you with quick acceleration. The 2022 Hyundai Kona offers plenty of features for its price tag.

Available Trims

2022 hyundai Kona

You can get the 2022 Hyundai Kona in five primary trim levels: SE, SEL, N Line, Limited, and N. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission powers the SE and SEL trims. You can expect to get 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque from this combination. A turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission garners 195 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque on the N Line and Limited.

The N is the only trim powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that delivers 276 horsepower and 289 pound-feet of torque, with a temporary boost up to 286 horsepower. The N’s engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. All Kona trims have a standard front-wheel drive, which can be traded for an all-wheel drive on all trims except the N.

2022 Hyundai Kona SE

The SE trim starts you with 16-inch alloy wheels, projector halogen headlights, LED daytime running lights, roof-mounted center high-mount stop light, automatic headlights, and solar glass. Inside, you get cloth seats, a six-way adjustable driver’s seat, steering-wheel-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls, dual front USB outlets, a six-speaker audio system, and an 8-inch touch screen complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.

The 60/40 split-fold down and reclining rear seatbacks with adjustable head restraints offer additional cargo and passenger configuration options in the Kona. Standard safety and driver-assistance features include an advanced air bag system, rearview monitor with parking guidance, forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping system.

The interior is designed for comfort and convenience with keyless entry and ignition, HD and satellite radio, and Bluelink Connected Car System. You also add a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert to your suite of safety and driver-assistance features.

You can add the Convenience package at the SEL trim level, which includes a sunroof, automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, and a wireless charging pad.

2022 Hyundai N Line

If you’re looking for something a little sportier, then the N Line is the trim for you. It offers a sport-themed trim that adds to the SEL features. You get everything except for the sunroof from the SEL Convenience package on the N Line, along with unique 18-inch wheels, restyled bumpers and grille, body-color premium body cladding, N Line front and rear fascia, and N Line badging.

Sliding behind the wheel, you’ll notice a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, automatic temperature control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and upgraded cloth upholstery. You also get aluminum-alloy sport pedals and gloss black and red interior accents. If you opt to add the Tech package, you get LED headlights and taillights, a sunroof, an upgraded eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a 10.25-inch touch screen, a navigation system, wired-only Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and adaptive cruise control.

2022 Hyundai Kona Limited

The Limited rides on 18-inch wheels with automatic wipers, high beam assist, premium Dark Gray body cladding, and a power sunroof. The interior offers leather-trimmed seats, power lumbar support for the driver, dynamic voice recognition, rear USB outlets, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and upgraded interior plastic trim. The Limited also adds rear parking sensors to help alert you to obstacles behind you when parking your Kona.

You get selectable drive modes to let you customize your driving experience based on road or weather conditions or driver preference. You also get leather upholstery with suede inserts, ambient white LED interior lighting, sports seats with extra bolstering, blue interior accents, and a Hyundai digital key.

2022 Hyundai Kona Electric

The 2022 Hyundai Kona Electric is also available in three trims: SEL, Limited, and Ultimate. These three use a 64-kilowatt-hour battery pack to power a 150-kWh electric motor to deliver a driving range of 258 miles with 201 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque. All Kona Electric trims are front-wheel drive only.
