The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe is available in SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy trims. For all trim levels, the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe measures 188.4 inches in length and 74.8 inches in width, with a wheelbase of 108.9 inches. Its standard height is 66.3 inches. However, the SEL, XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy trims offer the option of roof rack side rails, which bring the height up to 67.3 inches. Thus, in terms of its exterior, the 2022 Santa Fe is larger than the midsize Hyundai Tucson, which is 182.3 inches long, 73.4 inches wide, and 65.6 inches tall.
Front Side
One of the most noticeable exterior design elements of the Hyundai Santa Fe is its grille. It’s generally broader than those of its direct competitors. Compared to last year’s model of Santa Fe, even, it sports a bolder appearance, with the pattern being more pronounced. Should you choose the Calligraphy trim, you receive a premium-finish grille with a dark chrome accent. Besides the grille, the 2022 Santa Fe retains its distinctive LED-illuminated T-shaped running lights. The hood is long and gently sloped and scalloped, lending to the vehicle’s overall elegant look.
Interior Space
The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe seats five people while managing to reach a comfortable balance between overall passenger space and cargo space. The total interior volume is 147.9 cubic feet, including 111.5 cubic feet of passenger volume. Up in the front, there are 41.2, 44.1, 59.1, and 57.5 inches of headroom, legroom, shoulder room, and hip room, respectively. In the back, these areas measure 39, 41.7, 58.3, and 56.3 inches, respectively. As for cargo space, you get 72.1 cubic feet behind the front seats and 36.4 cubic feet behind the second row.
Seating
In addition to the ample space, the 2022 Santa Fe offers high-level comfort with its seating options. Starting at the SEL trim, you get heated front seats. Starting at the XRT trim, power-release second-row seats come standard, which is optional with a convenience package at the SEL level. The Limited and Calligraphy trims provide the finest seating options as standard. These include eight-way power passenger seats and premium quilted Nappa leather. These options are otherwise available only in the SEL trim with a premium package addition.
Sunroof
A panoramic sunroof comes standard on the Limited and Calligraphy trim levels and is optional for the SEL. It’s available for both hybrid and nonhybrid Santa Fe options in these trims. It lies above both the front and back rows of the vehicle, allowing for an expansive view of the sky. This is optimal for outdoor road trips and Sunday drives in which you’re aiming to relax and get some fresh air.
The sunroof and its shade are controllable by a console built into the ceiling of the vehicle. Tapping backward on a lever automatically retracts the shade. You can stop the retraction at any point to limit how much light you allow into the cab. With the shade entirely retracted, you can tap the lever again to retract the sunroof itself, which opens to a point halfway above the front and back rows. Another opening option is to tilt the back end of the sunroof, which you can do by pushing up into the lever.
Transmission and Drive Modes
The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe has an automatic transmission that dispenses with a traditional shifter in favor of shift buttons in a sloping in-dash control console. The park button is positioned to the left of the console, with reverse, neutral, and drive arranged vertically beside it. On the passenger side of the console are four drive modes: comfort, sport, snow, and smart.
These options adjust factors such as the steering sensitivity, throttle response, and engagement control of the HTRAC all-wheel-drive system. There’s also an option through which you can lock the system into the all-wheel-drive mode. This allows you to avoid the problem of manually switching to this mode when you aim to take off-road adventures.
Infotainment and Technology
The 2022 Santa Fe provides several excellent tech features. In the center dash, an 8-inch color touchscreen with AM and FM audio comes standard on all trims except for the Limited and the Calligraphy, which have upgraded touch screens measuring 10.25 inches with HD radio, navigation, and data concerning traffic flow and incidents. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also standard in different iterations for all trims. In addition, you access the rear-facing camera via the touch screen to assist with backing out and parking.
Starting with the SEL trim level, you get a wireless phone charger in the center console beside the cup holder. Below the console, there’s an area that provides a 12-volt power outlet and USB charging port. This area doubles as an out-of-view storage compartment where you can keep valuable items such as your bag. This level of privacy ensures peace of mind when leaving your items in the car.
