The Futuristic Ioniq 5
Over the past few years, electric vehicles have gradually gained popularity among Pensacola drivers, and the trend doesn’t seem to be slowing any time soon. Besides being radically better for the environment, they’re also less expensive to run and service, not to mention incredibly fun to drive. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 ticks all these boxes and is an excellent choice if you’re after an all-electric vehicle that’s also comfortable and features an innovative design. Here are some of the Ioniq 5’s main features and qualities.
Electric Technology

The 2022 Ioniq 5 is fully electric, using a single electric motor for power. Its base version produces 168 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, which is a good output for most drivers. Those who want a little more push can choose the enhanced version, which increases the output to 225 horsepower. An all-wheel-drive model includes an additional motor and increases the output to a sensational 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque.
Four Trims Choices
This electric crossover SUV is available in four distinct trims. They are:
- SE Standard Range: This basic version of the Ioniq 5 comes with a 58 kWh battery that provides an estimated range of 220 miles. It also includes multiple features, such as 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, a large 12.3-inch touch-screen interface, a six-speaker audio system, five USB ports, and smartphone compatibility through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- SE: This trim offers the same features as the previous but comes with an upgraded 77.4 kWh battery pack that’s also standard for all other trims. This battery increases its maximum range to 303 miles or 256 miles if you choose the all-wheel-drive version.
- SEL: This trim features everything available on the previous ones and then some. Additions include a heated steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging pad, front parking sensors, simulated leather upholstery, and power-folding side mirrors.
- Limited: The top version of the Ioniq 5 features the best of what this luxury crossover SUV has to offer. The additional features include larger 20-inch wheels, a spectacular panoramic sunroof, memory settings for the driver’s seat, a power-adjustable passenger seat, a premium eight-speaker Bose audio system, and a two-way charging system that allows you to use the Ioniq 5’s battery to power various devices and even charge another electric vehicle.
Interior and exterior design
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 takes full advantage of the fact that electric vehicles have fewer parts than gas-powered ones, providing an excellent blend of design and functionality. The lack of an electric motor and other components, such as a gearbox, exhaust system, and transmission, provides more interior and storage space. Besides being spacious, its interior features a simple yet elegant design. On the outside, the Ioniq 5 has an innovative look that blends futuristic elements with retro ones.
Comfort and Functionality
The Ioniq 5’s cabin is not only well-designed but also spacious and functional. You can access all major functions through the huge touch-screen interface, which also includes Hyundai’s Bluelink, an app that allows users to control many Ioniq features via mobile phone. You can, for example, use it to turn on the air conditioning or heating a few minutes before getting in the vehicle. Overall, all functions are intuitive and easy to use.
The front seats provide adequate support, and both rows offer plenty of space for passengers of all sizes. The cabin is well-insulated to keep out most exterior noises, and the suspension system contributes to overall comfort by canceling out most minor bumps in the road. As a result, the sound insulation and well-adjusted suspension system combine to make every journey a smooth one, even on less-than-perfect road surfaces. The Ioniq 5 also has a low center of gravity due to its batteries being fitted under its chassis, which greatly increases stability and comfort.
Interior Storage
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 features a decent amount of storage space for a crossover SUV. There’s a small space in the front where you can keep your charging cable and 27.2 cubic meters of space behind the second row. You can place various personal belongings in the many small storage spaces throughout the cabin.
Safety Systems
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 features an impressive number of driver aids, most of them available as standard. These include:
- Adaptive cruise control: It keeps a safe and steady distance between the Ioniq 5 and the vehicle in front.
- Forward collision mitigation system: It warns the driver in case of an imminent frontal impact and applies the brakes to mitigate it.
- Blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert: It issues an alert if another vehicle is in the Ioniq 5’s blind spot when you attempt to change lanes or drive in reverse.
- Lane-keeping system: It senses when the vehicle begins drifting out of its lane without the signal being activated and makes minor corrections to keep it in the center of the lane.
- Blind-spot intervention: It automatically stops you from changing lanes if a vehicle is in your blind spot and also steers the Ioniq 5 back to its original lane.
- 360-degree camera system: It provides a top-down view of the vehicle and the area around it, which can be helpful when you have to maneuver in tight spots.
- Blind-spot camera: It shows an image of the vehicle’s blind spot on its instrument panel screen whenever you use the turn signal.
- Automated parking system: The Ioniq 5 parks itself, with no input required from the driver.
- Rear automatic braking: It hits the brakes if it senses an imminent collision while backing up.
The electric vehicle revolution is here, and we’re right in the middle of it. The new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a great example of a vehicle that offers the benefits of classic gas-powered cars but takes full advantage of the freedom provided by a relatively low number of parts.
